alessandro diga, a young talented dutch artist, delivers 3 solid techno tracks for the fifth release on the bergwacht record label. “phaedra” starts with a great bassline and goes into a warm melodic techno track with a lot of emotions, dreamy synths and it goes along with a clear hihat. the track is able to be dreamy and not cheesy at the same time. “sonora” is grounded on a rolling bassline and clear hi-hats as well, it goes over in nice effects with outstanding breaks, but it finds back to the starting rhythms. “dahlia” the hidden b-2 track transmits a deep journey with melancholic feelings.

the second release on the vinyl only series of apes go bananas finally drops. the label is the new imprint from steve bug and clé, who together make up the production team for the releases. as with the well-received first ep, all we have is straight-up, no-nonsense, dance floor-filling house tracks. lead cut ‘all we have settles right into the groove with crisp and funky percussion, chi-town chords and amazing vocal samples. its got peak time written all over it. she cargo makes its influences pretty clear via the title, and the track certainly references some of the iconic sounds of the home of house. thick, rubbery bass lines, squiggly synths and firing percussion combine to deliver a suitable a homage to the windy city. ‘ape parade is built from some similar materials, but the chords are a little more lush and deep - synth strings and keys add a sense of the epic, and everything is tied together with a sick kick / snare / hat pattern. three modern killers for the floor, infused with the spirit of classic house.

celldöd, aka anders karlsson, has been releasing dirty electronic music since the late 80s, both small-run cassette tapes inspired by the diy ethos of his post-punk background, and pristine vinyl editions. karlsson s music is uncompromising and edgy, with roots in both early electronic and 70s industrial music from britain, as well as us techno and kraut-inspired german electronics. prior to releasing records under the name celldöd, he released music as the pain machinery (ebm), human experiment (industrial), preset (industrial/breakcore), and hbt (proto-techno/industrial) among others — all unified by an omnipresent diy-punk attitude.

black atlass is quite literally the only artist on earth to soundtrack louis vuitton and yves saint laurent ads while featuring on action bronson songs. this diverse appeal is a testament to the captivating voice of alex fleming, the young singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and who created black atlass as a vehicle for his unique vocals, heart on-sleeve lyrics and experimental production techniques. following the well-received paris single and young bloods ep (the latter a personal favorite of visionary director woodkid, who created mind-bending visuals for single jewels featuring fleming and supermodel anja rubik) and the three singles released over the past year, haunted paradise, tonight, and island love, black atlass is finally ready to drop his full-length debut.

he might be an architect by profession, but in his spare time spanish producer jaime tellado sets forth his work with the construction of groove and the design of soundscapes. under his skygaze moniker, he’s built a name for himself far outside the scene he’s grown up in. with his ‘some fun’ ep, once again showcases his well-structured yet wild-flowing melodic groove, combining deep bass with an ambient touch.

frank & tony aka artists formerly known as adultnapper and anthony collins, respectively, are it again on the former s new york based scissor & thread imprint. first up -apprentice- is a well-crafted deep house cut with swirling, captivating pads that build to a climax. lamento with its sexy bassline, playing off the thumping drum programming and yet more swirling pads that they ve proven to do so well. lastly modest season is the sort of smoky, dubby, after hours house that swiss producer agnes was known for similarly, back in the day.

zarenzeit is a band project by the label owners with lead keyboarder and producer george btp, also known as allstarr motomusic or dan piu. after several live projects back in the 90ies, the band releases its first full album as black inside with vocalist debra jones davis and sarignia bonfà. the lp infuses deep soulful house and 80ies funk elements, starting with the ambient house drift of time travel, which soon settles into a classic rare synth pop as 2souls, 1heart, while let them know they won blasts more into the spacy and light dancefloor. sarignia s lovely gospel version of talk about a child, ends the album on a spare, but no less grooving, note. quality house music not only for adults.

berlin-based dj and techno producer savas pascalidis has been steadily making his mark in underground electronic music circles since his first releases in the mid-90s. born in south germany and later moved to berlin, the well-traveled dj has been among the restless and classically minded members of the dance music community over the last decades. he developed skills that led him into producing records and made a name for himself with a series of dark, loopy and groove driven dancefloor orientated techno music. pure and simple. his releases earned him a reputation for being something of a dance music purist.

die form is a french post-industrial and electronic band formed in 1977-1978. the name die form means (the) form/shape in german and is a play on the english homonym deformed and on the french homonym difforme (deformed). die form is the primary project of electronic musician and multimedia artist philippe fichot. he began by recording a number of experimental cassette releases in the late 1970s and formed the bain total label to release these early cassettes, as well as various side projects such as krylon hertz, camera obscura, eva-johanna reichstag, hurt and fine automatic.

rhythm büro is a new record label based out of kiev, ukraine started by dj and promoter igor glushko. the büro first began as a local party series organised by igor, alexander pavlenko (aka na nich, widely known in the drum’n’bass world as sunchase) and vera logdanidi (aka vero). since the party’s beginning in march 2015, rhythm büro has hosted such greats as zadig, abdulla rashim, etapp kyle, eric cloutier, woo york, artefakt, acronym, steve bicknell and actress all at different non-club warehouse-like locations around kiev. a peculiar aspect of the rhythm büro team’s objective has been to maintain secrecy about the exact location of the party until a day prior to the event, when ticket buyers are then informed about the location via text message or email. the label was started to be the logical and progressive extension to what rhythm büro has established itself to be locally: one of ukraine’s prominent techno initiatives. for the first release of the label, na nich and vero have contributed two joint-produced tracks that are to become their first publicly available material under their current aliases. while a1 leans itself to the soundscape that is more or less typical for rhythm büro parties: trippy, hypnotic and transportive techno, a2 hits the floor with refreshing zeal, bringing an electro-esque break-beat under deep and emotive synth layers. the b side contains two remixes of the title track, one of which is thoroughly tailored by the dutch-born-berlin-based-duo, artefakt (mostly known for their releases on delsin, prologue and field) as well as a strong and heady remix by semantica records’ mastermind, svreca.

there are several performances in the movie, notably from established early hip hop groups, grandmaster melle mel & the furious five, doug e. fresh, afrika bambaataa & soulsonic force and the treacherous three. as a member of the treacherous three, kool moe dee also appeared in the film.
beat street’s impact was felt internationally as well as throughout the united states. in germany, for example, beat street is credited with introducing the hip hop movement to the country.

an obscure tape release discovery by red light radio founder and close friend of the label, orpheu de jong, led to music from memorys latest release. this two track 12inch highlights the work of electronic music pioneer joel graham, a san francisco based artist who self released two cassettes in 1984/85. originally recorded and performed live on pre-midi analogue equipment in 1982 as an outline for a live performance, these visionary tracks provoke much of the same sensibilities found in both contemporary dance music as well as in works of more established vanguard artists of the time. slowly unravelling and deeply hypnotic, joel grahams music seems to manifest a doorway to a profound new world and can be seen as a forerunner of what was to come in electronic music.

nino delivers his first well-deserved solo ep on batti batti. originally from bosnia, but based in brussels (belgium), nino s tracks have always been a perfect representation of a purely deep underground sound. starting off with a soothing piece of ambience to set the mood , odysseia ep is aimed for club use and hence depicts ninos evolving style yet maintaining his secretive and atmospheric element as a common factor.

the ep entitled deceased unknown, a seemingly morbid piece of art (art/music) but look a little deeper! this ep sees b12 pick up the pace from their previous firescope release brokenunbroken “coduktor” an organ plays some subtle chords behind this track while beautiful drums skip along on top, to create a sonic backdrop for the very quirky melodies and top lines that constantly evolve and interpolate. a spiritual experience ? “dont look down” 808 and 909 drum and pads always a killer combination add to this an odd malformed bass line which never really reveals quite what it is doing makes for a pretty interesting track. don’t look down where is the question “blue and green capsule” a pumping kick drum sets the pace for this track which builds up using classic b12 style drums. the swirling pads and sliding melodies interlaced make this track reminiscent of “epillion” as featured on the classic b12 album “time tourist” on warp records in 1996. a track you can move your feet as well as your head to “minor decay” brain decay , world decay , urban decay , human decay , music decay, unavoidable decay - a simple straightforward techno track using its simplicity to conjure up feelings of sadness and thoughtfulness as well as joy and hope. a new hope finished in glorious red with black splatter vinyl with exclusive artwork by sarah sparkes

marathons began innocently, as a quick debut ep by an energetic swedish duo we found on soundcloud. within a couple months of chatting with the pair, artur bra&#776,,ndstrom and egil kahlbom, however, we realized our collaboration wasn t going to be simple, so cut and dry, so straightforward, and that s why we find ourselves here, a year after meeting them with a full album, not an in-and-out single, on our hands. what made it complex and intricate, you ask? why d we opt to squeeze eight originals into one long-player, you wonder? well, artur and egil are prolific dudes with fantastic ears and formidable work ethics. a couple of demos quickly sprouted offspring and became four, then six, then ten. rather than fight the arbitrary desire to trim the spread down to a 12inch, we figured we d aim higher and work on a proper album. what we constructed is, in a very classic sense, a long-player. here s that album! it s a sunny, loose, limber, uninhibited boogie through warm disco cuts and wobbly house jams and soulful funk slices. daytime chill-out with a nightclub architecture—or peak hour mayhem with a bright, clearheaded euphoria. marathons swings every which way and suits any mood, so drop that needle and try it on. then repeat, repeat, repeat.

outofstock returns with another release, this time a two-tracker from timofti which is well known as being a part of audiotheque. after the great reception that followed after the premiere of this label, it was a tough job to have any material at least close to that one, but timofti lived up to the expectations and produced some of the most attracting sounds you would hear lately.

the intensity of neznan his personality and talent made us decide to go all the way for this release. his story is remarkable and feels like a paradox. his musical ability is full of details and his creativity is a perfect match with float. if you take your time to understand his visions and incomprehensible ideas we’re sure you will love this piece of art as much as we do.

adult contemporary have always focused on meticulous production and manufacturing throughout the catalog history. this time no different in that regard, but the approach seems to have crossed over to the visual aspect of their ninth release, a glorious offering introducing artist invisibleland, as well as, a dazzling cover illustration synchronizing the entire package. the headlining lead track is astonishing itself. -six months of no rain- is a way of life in l.a. come every september which is when this multi-dimensional masterpiece lands.

californiabased producer damon bell could not find a more suitable home for his new 12inch than croatian label burek. its his first one since blues for the libyan lp released in 2015. for deepblak, and it sounds as if the time off was well spent. two words that perfectly describe this record are rich and colourful, and the description is equally applicable to all three cuts. stand by me is a synthheavy piece built around the interplay between tracks rougher sounds and big lush pads. on the flipside, life is slightly faster and more direct, with a wonderful guitar part that circles around the main theme throughout the most of the track. similarly mannered, but slightly more intense transatlantic journey? we been here! is the last piece and features an infectious groove with lead synth piercing through layers of delicate arpeggios playing in the background. all in all, it feels good to have damon in the team. we hope youll enjoy this record
